Emerge online conference
April 2008:
Digital Communities & Digital Identities

Support & familiarisation
Here is a simple guide, and link to a 'Sandbox Meeting Space'
where everyone has moderator privileges, and allows to adjust the
Audio settings (essential for a Webconference).
To access the Audio settings wizard, after Elluminate is
launched, go to Tools-->Audio-->Audio Wizard. There is
where you can select which microphone or speaker Elluminate will
use (most setup problems can be resolved and tested by the Audio
Wizard). Remember! Please use a headset with attached microphone
rather than speakers and a free standing microphone, which will
cause feedback when you speak.

| 2 | Whole week activities: Dragons' Den
The aim is to provide feedback on project ideas (not draft
proposal) so you can improve your ideas, producing better
proposals and hopefully improving your success in bidding.
During the conference weeks we want to explore two
approaches
1. A virtual Dragons Den using Elluminate - to book a slot (see
below) please email Paul Bailey
2. Feedback on ideas using the Moodle assignment function -
submit you ideas below.
Dragons' Den Will be available to feed back on ideas for:
- Benefits Realisation small projects funding round
- JISC Circular 04/2008 Learning and Teaching Innovations
Projects (to be confirmed)
It is important to note that
the Dragons can only give advice and comment based on their
knowledge and experience, they do not speak for the JISC or any
other funding body

Whole week activities: User Engagement
Stories
The aim of these Moodle activities is to reflect on user
engagement as a community practice. There is a wiki to share
stories of user engagement and a short reflective quiz to
stimulate thought. We will be using the stories to inform
discussion during the User
Engagement day on 25 April and the ongoing development of
community practice.
